ZMBT (Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole)

ZMBT (Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole) is used as an accelerator in the rubber vulcanization process, improving tensile strength and aging resistance. 

Additionally, ZMBT exhibits antioxidant properties, protecting rubber materials from degradation caused by heat and oxygen.



ZMBT is a high-speed accelerator with extensive plateau and good aging resistance. 

ZMBT also functions as an anti-corrosion agent in boilers. 

ZMBT is used to manufacture textile auxiliaries, tires, treads, auto tubes, carcasses, conveyors, and V-belts. 
ZMBT is also suitable for technical moldings and extruded products, such as seals, hoses, profiles, cable sheeting, and insulation. It has a shelf life of 2 years.

ZMBT's main application is latex, which is used as a primary accelerator combined with ZDMC or ZDEC. 

Latex films cured with ZMBT have a markedly higher modulus. 

Furthermore, a better compression set resistance in latex foam can be achieved without increasing the cure time. 
ZMBT does not destabilize latex formulations. 

In dry rubber applications, the performance of ZMBT is almost similar to MBT, with slight scorch improvement.




ZMBT is a semi-ultrafast accelerator widely used in NR/SBR latex compounds.
ZMBT improves the state of cure in NR-based compounds even at 120 C and improves aging properties. 
Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole can be dispersed easily in water using common dispersing agents. 
Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole can also be used in dry rubber compounds as an ultra-accelerator. 
ZMBT, in combination with ZDC at 1 phr levels, is widely used in NR/SBR latex compounds to manufacture latex threads, foams, and dipped goods.


ZMB) can be used as an accelerator for the vulcanization of natural rubber, general synthetic rubber, and latex. 

2-thiol benzothiazole zinc salt has the characteristics of fast vulcanization promotion, low vulcanization flatness, and no early vulcanization during mixing. 

Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole (ZMBT) is widely used in the rubber processing industry and is an essential high-efficiency rubber vulcanization accelerator for natural and synthetic rubber.

Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole's main application is in sulfur-cured latex as a secondary accelerator in combination with zinc-diethyldithiocarbamate or zinc-dimethyl dithiocarbamate. 

Higher moduli in latex films are obtained than in Dithiocarbamates alone, and a better compression set resistance in latex foam can be achieved without increasing the cure time. 

ZMBT is also a fast Accelerator in dry rubber applications (it is almost similar to 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole, but with a slight scorch improvement).



ZMBT is a versatile semi-ultra accelerator. 
All primary accelerators, thiurams, and dithiocarbamates activate it. 

ZMBT can also activate essential accelerators. 
Adding small amounts will extend the processing safety of thiuram and dithiocarbamate cures without discoloration. 

Using 2-4 phr of ZMBT with 0.5 - 0.05 phr thiuram and low sulfur exhibits outstanding resistance to heat. 
Typical use in mechanical goods would be 0.8 - 1.2 phr. 

ZMBT, 0.01 - 0.5 phr of a secondary accelerator with ordinary sulfur.
