SP-154 Resin (Old Name: Akrochem® P-105) by Akrochem is a heat reactive phenolic resin-based tackifier, that was developed for the formulation of solvent-borne polychloroprene cement.
Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) is used in general purpose and heat-activating contact cement.
Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) offers high heat resistance, cohesive strength, shorter time and light color.
Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154)Resin shows compatibility with nitrile- and chloroprene rubber.

Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) is a heat reactive phenolic resin that was developed for the formulation of solvent-borne polychloroprene cements that do not phase.
Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) provides high heat resistance, high cohesive strength, shorter open time, and light color.
Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) reacts with an active magnesium oxide, such as ELASTOMAG 170, in solvent solution, forming a salt which greatly increases the heat resistance of the adhesive.

Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) can also be used in formulating adhesives with NBR, SBR, natural and reclaimed rubbers.

Akrochem P-105 ( SP-154) is completely compatible with NBR and CR.

Overview
Akrochem P-105 is widely used in the preparation of general-purpose and heat-activating polychloroprene cement.
Akrochem P-105 is also used in rubber adhesives to increase heat resistance and cohesive strength while keeping a light color.

SP-154 RESIN
(fka: P-105)

-HEAT REACTIVE PHENOLIC RESINPRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
SP-154 is a heat reactive phenolic resin that was developed for the formulation of solvent-borne polychloroprene cements.

TYPICAL PROPERTIES:
 Physical Form ................................................ Flake
 Specific Gravity ............................................. 1.10
 Color, Gardner, 60% Solution in Toluene ..... 1 – 7
 Melting Point, Capillary (°F) ......................... 160 – 190
 Methylol Content (%) .................................... 8 – 12

SOLUBILITY:
SP-154 is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons and ketones. It is partially soluble in higher alcohols and  aliphatic hydrocarbons.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
SP-154 is used in general purpose and heat-activating contact cements.
It provides high heat  resistance, high cohesive strength, shorter open time, and light color.

This product reacts with an  active magnesium oxide, such as ELASTOMAG 170, in solvent solution, forming a salt which greatly  increases the heat resistance of the adhesive.
It can also be used in formulating adhesives with NBR, SBR, natural and reclaimed rubbers.

SP-154 is completely compatible with NBR and CR.
It has a  compatibility limit of approximately 25 parts by weight in combination with 100 parts by weight of SBR, NR and reclaimed rubbers.
Adhesives made using SP-154 have excellent heat resistance, high cohesive strength, and light color.

In polychloroprene adhesives, SP-154 increases heat resistance and  cohesive strength of the adhesive film.

STORAGE:
For best results, SP-154 should be stored where temperatures do not exceed 86°F for extended periods  of time.
As with all phenolic resins, SP-154 will become darker with age
