SODIUM BROMIDE (SODYUM BROMÜR)

Sodium bromide is an inorganic sodium salt having bromide as the counterion. It is a bromide salt and an inorganic sodium salt. Sodium bromide (NaBr) is a single salt clear brine fluid with the following features and benefits.Sodium bromide is extensively used medically as a hypnotic, anticonvulsant and a sedative. Sodium bromide is also used in conjunction with chlorine as a disinfectant for hot tubs and swimming pools. Sodium bromide is non-damaging to the formation. Sodium bromide is thermally and chemically stable. Sodium bromide can be blended with other solutions of bromides and chlorides, and Sodium bromide is especially useful when used in formations that are known to have calcium sensitivity.Sodium bromide percent aqueous solution of sodium bromide has a density of 12.4 pounds per gallon and a crystallization temperature (LCTD) of 41°F (5°C).A pure sodium bromide (NaBr) brine fluid is often selected when the chloride ion is not desirable and when sodium is preferred over calcium. Sodium bromide is often used in situations where formation waters contain high levels of sulfate or carbonate that may precipitate with the calcium ion. Sodium Bromide Solution is generally immediately available in most volumes. Sodium Bromide High purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered. Most metal Sodium bromide compounds are water soluble for uses in water treatment, chemical analysis and in ultra high purity for certain crystal growth applications. The Sodium Bromide ion in an aqueous solution can be detected by adding carbon disulfide (CS2) and chlorine.
The sodium bromide is an inorganic compound in its dry form a white crystalline powder with a salty and somewhat bitter taste. The chemical formula for sodium bromide in NaBr. Sodium bromide is a white crystal or white, granular powder having the odour of sulphur dioxie. Sodium bromide does not occur as natural solid due to its solubility, Sodium bromide is extracted from ocean water along with chlorides, iodides and halites. Sodium bromide possesses anticonvulsant properties of any bromide salt and one of the most common salts of hydrobromic acid. Sodium Bromide is a sedatıve & hypnotıc whıch ıs only effectıve when used over perıod of tıme. Sodium Bromide is useless as an occasıonal hypnotıc. Sodium Bromide is too dangerous for continued use except cautıously for selected cases of grand mal Sodium Bromide epilepsy ın chıldren whıch do not respond to conventıonal less toxic agents. Sodium bromide reacts with silver nitrate solution forms silver bromide and sodium nitrate. The chemical equation is given below. Used as a sedative like other bromides. Sodium Bromide is Used in oil and gas drilling industry is a principal consumer of sodium bromide. Sodium Bromide is Used for its germicidal properties due to liberation of bromine. Sodium Bromide used as an antiseptic, detergent, and as a reagent in pharmaceutical preparations. Sodium bromide is a white coloured solid. This quickly dissolves into mud. Sodium bromide produces bromine gas when heated very strongly in air. This also reacts to generate liquid bromine with chlorine. Sodium bromide is an ionically bonded compound. The electronegativity of bromine is high enough and that the electromagnetic force between the Br and the Na atoms is great enough that an electron is transferred from the Na atom to the Br atom. Therefore, Sodium bromide bromine becomes negatively charged and sodium becomes positively charged. Sodium bromide, also known , can be used as a hypnotic, as an anticonvulsant, and as a sedative. In the field of medicine, Sodium bromide,  is widely used as an anticonvulsant and a sedative in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Similarly, sodium bromide has very similar physical properties to another ionic compound of the same metal: sodium chloride. This chloride is represented as NaCl, more commonly known as salt or table salt. Sodium bromide has many uses in different fields of science; For example, Sodium bromide is used in the production of various types of drugs (sedatives, hypnotics, anticonvulsants, others), Sodium bromide is also used in organic synthesis and even photography applications. As mentioned earlier, sodium bromide occurs in the solid phase, and sodium bromide, like many other salts of inorganic nature, is the crystal structure of sodium bromide structurally. Sodium bromide This crystalline molecule, consisting of a bromine atom and a hydrogen atom, is the ), has a cubic type structure centered on faces. Also, the structure of Sodium bromide means that it has a high melting point of about 747 ° C, which is commercially in two forms: Sodium bromide an anhydrous type (without water molecules) and an anhydrous type (with two water molecules inside) NaBr 2H2O)), melting points different. It is caused by the chemical reaction between sodium bromide, hydrogen bromide (BrH, a hydrogen halide in the gas phase) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH, a strong base in the solid phase and hygroscopic properties). Its action is due to the bromide ion, and for this reason potassium bromide is equally effective. In 1975, bromides were removed from drugs in the U.S. such as Bromo-Seltzer due to toxicity.[10]

Preparation of other bromine compounds
Sodium bromide is widely used for the preparation of other bromides in organic synthesis and other areas. It is a source of the bromide nucleophile to convert alkyl chlorides to more reactive alkyl bromides by the Finkelstein reaction:

NaBr + RCl › RBr + NaCl (R = alkyl)
Once a large need in photography, but now shrinking, the photosensitive salt silver bromide is prepared using NaBr.

Disinfectant
Sodium bromide is used in conjunction with chlorine as a disinfectant for hot tubs and swimming pools.

Petroleum industry
Sodium bromide is used to prepare dense fluids used in oil wells.
