Product name
TRIBUTOXYETHYL PHOSPHATE
CAS NO.78-51-3
Tributoxyethyl phosphate is plasticizer of fire retardancy. Tributoxyethyl phosphate is mainly used for fire resistance and plasticizing has good low-temperature characteristics.

Description of Tributoxyethyl phosphate
General description of Tributoxyethyl phosphate
Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate is an organic flame retardant[2]. Tributoxyethyl phosphate shows PXR agonistic activity[3]. Tris(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate was detected and quantified during the analysis of herring gull eggs by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization(+)-tandem mass spectrometry[1].

Tributoxyethyl phosphate is a trialkyl phosphate in which the alkyl group specified is 2-butoxyethyl. Tributoxyethyl phosphate has a role as an environmental contaminant and a flame retardant.

ChEBI
Phosphate ester flame retardants are human-made chemicals added to consumer and industrial products for the purpose of reducing flammability. Tributoxyethyl phosphate flame retardants are composed of a group of chemicals with similar properties but slightly different structures. Tributoxyethyl phosphate is typically liquids at room temperature; however, some are solids.

Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP)
Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is a phosphate ester that, thanks to its structure, can be used in many applications including plasticisation, solvation, flame retardancy and defoaming.
Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is in fact a multifunctional additive that may be used to modify the properties of many polymer systems and is a particularly good levelling aid and coalescent additive for emulsion polymers.
Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is used in a mixed solvent/aqueous system as a defoamer during production and as a secondary plasticiser in many polymers. The above properties in combination with inherent flame retardancy makes Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) a real multifunctional additive essential to many polymer formulations.

Typical applications are:
in acrylic based polishes where its coalescent and plasticising properties will improve levelling and gloss, enabling a "dry bright" finish to be obtained. Tributoxyethyl phosphate will also reduce surface defects such as streaking, crazing, and powdering. Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is used also in acrylic gloss paint formulations as a coalescent and defoamer.
Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) also helps to improve pigment wetting and rheological properties with a minimal effect on reflectance Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is a highly effective "knockdown" defoamer used extensively in paint, textile and paper industries.
Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is also used as a halogen free flame retardant additive in polymer systems. Tributoxyethyl phosphate can be used also in conjunction with other flame retardants.

Abstract

Tributoxyethyl phosphate (TBEP) is widely used in household materials such as plasticizer, floor polish and flame retardant in plastic resins and synthetic rubbers. This compound has been detected at ppb level in underground water. In order to elucidate the toxicity of Tributoxyethyl phosphate , a 14-week oral toxicity study was conducted. Wistar rats (5-weeks old, male & female, 15 rats/group) were given diet containing 0, 0.03, 0.3 or 3.0% Tributoxyethyl phosphate . Suppression of body weight gain was observed in both sexes of the 3.0% group. Serum cholinesterase activity was significantly decreased in both sexes of the 0.3 and 3.0% groups and serum gamma-glutamyl transferase activity was significantly increased in both sexes of the 3.0% group after 5 and 14 weeks exposure. Amylase in serum was also increased in 0.3 and 3.0% group males and 3.0% group females. Absolute and relative liver weights in both sexes were significantly increased in the 3.0% group after 5 and 14 weeks of exposure. Histopathological examination revealed moderate periportal hepatocyte swelling in male rats of the 3.0% group after 14 weeks exposure but this change was not found in male rats given 0.3% or less of Tributoxyethyl phosphate in the diet or in any of the females. These findings indicated that the liver is a target organ for Tributoxyethyl phosphate toxicity. We concluded a no-observed effect level (NOEL) of Tributoxyethyl phosphate in the diet of 0.03% (male: 20 mg/kg/day, female: 22 mg/kg/day) under the conditions of this toxicity study.

Bu toksisite çalışmasının koşulları altında% 0.03 (erkek: 20 mg / kg / gün, kadın: 22 mg / kg / gün) diyette Tribütoksietil fosfat'in gözlenmeyen etki düzeyi (NOEL) sonucuna vardık.

Description du phosphate de tributoxyéthyle
