Storage
As ATAMAN CHEMICALS, We recommend to store the product in closed originally containers under dry conditions at room temperature (cf. the current Safety Data Sheet).
During storage Hostapur SAS 60 separates out into two phases. In addition, sodium sulphate can separate out at fairly low temperatures.
It is therefore necessary to heat Hostapur SAS 60 to a temperature of 65 - 90°C and homogenize it by stirring or pumping round prior to use.

Hostapur SAS 60 should be used within 24 months after the date of the certificate of analysis received with the shipment.

Hostapur SAS 60 of ATAMAN KIMYA comes as yellowish soft paste.

Processing and storage of Hostapur SAS
The Hostapur SAS 30 and 60 grades are dispatched in 165 kg plastic open tops drums and in heat-insulated tankers made of stainless steel or aluminium.
The homogeneous Hostapur SAS 30, which is a clear liquid at room temperature, is easy to transport, convey and store.
Hostapur SAS 60 , by contrast, is a paste that flows at +20°C but that separates out into two phases of different composition if left to stand for a lengthy period of time.
For this reason Hostapur SAS 60 must be homogenized before use by stirring and, if necessary, by heating.
This measure is not necessary if the productr is processed by the drum load.

A) Transport
The loading temperature ex works for delivery by road tanker is for Hostapur SAS 30: 50 - 60°C and for Hostapur SAS 60: 70 - 90°C.
Although Hostapur SAS 60 is still pumpable at room temperature with the pumps mentioned in section 6.3 Conveying/ mixing, the temperature during transport should not fall below 65°C so as to facilitate handling and conveying.
The road tankers intended for transporting Hostapur SAS 60 have standard R3" connections or conventional hose couplings.

B) Storage
Containers made from the following materials have proved successful for storing the Hostapur SAS grades:
glass-fibre-reinforced polyester resin, especially for storage tanks with a capacity of 30 - 70 m3,
steel containers with a suitable hard rubber lining or with tried and tested internal coatings, for example, epoxy resin or phenol-formaldhyde resin,
stainless steel, for example, material no. 1.4541 (V2A) or 1.4571 (V4A).

The last-mentioned materials are also recommended for pipelines.
Bevor storage tanks are installed, a guarantee of compatibility with Hostapur SAS at the intended storage temperatures should be obtained from the manufacturer in question.
Hostapur SAS 30 should be stored at temperatures above 20°C, because cloudiness may occur at lower temperatures.
This cloudiness has no effect on the quality of the product. Before use, however, the product must be homogenized.
As already mentioned, Hostapur SAS 60 separates out in storage into two phases, one containing mor surfactant than the other.
In addition, sodium sulphate can separate out at fairly low temperatures.
It is therefore necessary to stir or pump round the tank contants consistantly and at some time to maintain a storage temperature of 65 - 95°C.
If a circulating pump is used, entrainment or air must be prevented by suitable design of the return pipe.
Our experts will gladly provide technical advice on planning and installing storage tanks for Hostapur SAS grades.
Hostapur SAS 93 presents no problems in transport and processing.
When Hostapur SAS powder is processed, the information given in a safety data sheet must be observed because of dust formation.
Both products grades can be kept almost indefinitely under normal conditions but, since they are hygroscopic, must be kept away from contact with water and atmospheric moisture

Storage of Hostapur SAS 60
During storage, Hostapur SAS 60 tends to separate into 2 layers with different compositions and active content.
At very low temperatures and after a certain time, even sodium sulphate may precipitate.
Any storage tank therefore needs a homogenisation system.
Although the product is pumpable at 20°C, a temperature of 65 - 90°C is recommendable because of the sharp viscosity reduction from >5000 mPas to about 2000 mPas.
The volume to be recycled should be about 10% of the tank volume per hour.
To avoid foaming, the outlet of the recycling hose should be below the surface.
This can be realised by means of a flexible crank with a floating device to be guided by metal wire.
The heating device should be integrated in the external loop system (just a bouble jacket tube to be heated with steam).
Due to a poor convection of the product within teh tank, direct heating by means of internal heating coils should be rejected in order to avoid thermal stress. Electric resistance heating is not recommandable at all.

In case the recycling pump stops, the steam flow should interrupt automatically.
The diameter of the tank should be smaller than its height in order en ensure an even distribution of the recycled material.
The best material is stainless steel V4A DIN 1.4571; V2A DIN 1.4301 or DIN 1.4541 is resistant as well, but may cause problems at the welds.
As we have experience with coated carbon steel, any coating material should be tested under operating conditions for a sufficient period of time prior to making a decision.
The tank should be fitted with 80-mm rockwool insulation. Only positve displacement pumps for high viscous products are suitable.
Piping at the suction side should be DN 80. At the pressure side DN 50 is sufficient.
The off-loading pipe for the tank truck should be DN 80, to allow discharging by means of compressed air.

In Germany Hostapur SAS 60 is classified into the so-called "Wassergefährdungsklasse 2".
Consequently all storage and manufacturing areas need protection against spillage of the product so as to prevent penetration of spills into aquatic systems like rivers, the ground etc..
In other countries the lokal laws and specific environmental regulations have to be
taken into consideration.

Hostapur SAS 30 and 60 can be conveyed by displacement pumps

C) Dilution
Dilution of Hostapur SAS 60 to 30% or less than 30% active dertegent.
The problem of storing Hostapur SAS 60 can be simplified by adjusting the product on delivery to 30% or less active detergent by diluting it with water.
Any stirred vessel made of suitable material, see Storage, with low-speed stirrers can be used.
The soft and preserved water intended for dilution (hot water accelerates the dilution operation) is run into the vesseland teh Hostapur SAS 60 is added and dissolved with solw stirring (eddying should be avoided because of foam development).
The product can also be homogenized by being pumped round.
Another possibility consists of running Hostapur SAS 60 into the storage tank and at the same time slowly adding hot water.
The amount of water is governed by the efficency of the pumps and should be no more than one-fifth of the amount pumped round per hour.

An example will illustrate this:
Delivery of 20 t Hostapur SAS 60; tank size 50 m3, pumping rate 5 m3/h; water added 1/5 of 5m3 = 1 m3/hour.
In this case it takes about 20 hours to produce 40 t Hostapur SAS 30 from 20 t Hostapur SAS 60.
Dissolving of Hostapur SAS 93
The solid Hostapur SAS 93 can be dissolved in water in any vessel made of suitable material and equipped with a low speed stirrer.
The solution is produced by running soft water or condensate (50 - 60 °C) into the vessel and slowly stirring in Hostapur SAS 93.
Stirring is continued until the Hostapur SAS 93 has completely dissolved.
Experience shows that this takes about 15 - 30 minutes.
If a preservative has not already been added to the water used for dissolving the solid matter, the resulting dilute Hostapur SAS solutions must be protected against bacterial attack by the addition of suitable preservatives.
Water which is used for dissolving, is one of the most likely sources of contamination. Hygienic conditions are an indispensable prerequisite for achieving a good commercial product.
A high standard in plant hygiene is always crucial for the manufacture of finished products containing a low and harmless level of bacteria.

D) Handling
Because of a strong wetting and degreasing action, appropiate protective measures should be taken, particularly where lengthy exposure is involved.
Therefore protective gloves and safety goggles should be worn when handling these raw materials.
