It is an anionic surfactant derived from natural oils that is readily biodegradable and has low toxicity characteristics. It is an anionic surfactant with excellent solvency powers. It is compatible with a wide range of materials and is stable over a wide pH range. Sulphonated Butyl Oleate has been shown to provide emulsification to a variety of oils and is well placed in degreasing formulations where its oil solubilising and emulsification properties are combined.
